Congratulations to Trina for becoming Monross' Mental Health Champion

The club would like to congratulate Trina Sami-Brown on becoming Monross’ Mental Health Champion.

Trina please tell us about the course.

The course was formed of two parts:

  1. CIMPSA accredited Mental Health Awareness for Sport and Physical Activity + eLearning course
  2. Mental Health Champion for Welsh Athletics

What does the role involve?

The role of a Mental Health Champion is to support people to access the mental wellbeing benefits of running, remove stigma and get people talking about mental health. Mental Health Champions do not act as practitioners for providing mental health support, but can signpost individuals to the right resources to assist them.

Mind, the mental health charity, have a guide explaining a range of services that are available.

Where can I find out more about this?

Trina has shared some great ideas and we looked forward to developing these in the new season.

Being part of an affiliated club offers the chance to realise your full potential through running and beyond. Welsh Athletics offer numerous courses throughout the year.
